The Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management's Colorado Business Emergency Operations Center (BEOC) and Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) partnered with Big R Stores to bring 32 cold weather sleeping bags to Alamosa’s unhoused population. The bags were delivered earlier this month in time to help people staying outside of shelters endure colder temperatures.  David Osborn, DHSEM field manager for the San Luis Valley Region worked with Charlotte Olson, Colorado Department of Human Services,  and Lance Cheslock, director of La Puente to coordinate the delivery of the bags to the Alamosa community earlier this month.

"We are grateful to have the support of Big R Stores in helping our community gain access to resources. Strong public and private partnerships like this are instrumental in Colorado's recovery in overcoming the challenges of COVID-19 or wildfires. Our private sector partners are with us every step of the way. Colorado has a great business community," said Derek Killebrew, private sector liaison for DHSEM and the Colorado BEOC.
